SeverCorr Recruitment Begins
[News Release from the Mississippi Department of Employment Security (MDES)\
Jackson, Miss. (May 23, 2006) – The Mississippi Department of Employment Security (MDES) announced today that it will begin accepting job applications June 13 for the new SeverCorr plant in Lowndes County. Applications will be accepted at a SeverCorr Job Fair June 13-17 and June 19-21 from 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the East Mississippi Community College Technology Center, 8731 South Frontage Road, Mayhew, Mississippi.
Representatives from MDES and SeverCorr will take application and assist in the screening process for Operating Technicians, Maintenance Technicians, and Service Equipment Technicians. Applicants will need to bring their work and education history when applying. More than 350 of these high-paying jobs will be filled before the scheduled opening of the steel mill in early 2007. The facility will be located in the Golden Triangle Industrial Park in Lowndes County. It is designed to produce 1.5 million tons annually of high quality steel products for Automotive, Appliance, Door, HVAC, Metal Building, Pipe & Tube and Service Centers.
Consortium of representatives from MDES, SeverCorr and EMCC will screen the applications to ensure they meet SeverCorr’s qualifications. SeverCorr will make the final selection for the interviewing and subsequent hiring.
